Dear Mr.Deptula:
On 3/21/90 you and I travelled to subject location to review proposed septic
system repairs.The septic system at this location presently shows signs of
failure and is in need of repair.The failing system,I feel,will not
jeopardize the Hillsdale water system provided adjustments are made as
scheduled.I will arrange for a bacteria sample early next week to
substantiate the integrity of the Hillsdale well.
The existing septic tank lies approximately 85 feet from the Hillsdale well.
The existing leach field lies approximately 145-150 feet from the well.The
perc rate for this area is approximately 1.3 minutes per inch thereby negating
the need to double separating distances from the public well.The withdrawal
rate of the Hillsdale well (DOHS inspection records)has been estimated at 36
gpm,thereby requiring a 150 foot separating distance to sources of pollution.
The proposed septic system location will provide a 150 foot separating
distance between the Hillsdale well and the source of pollution.Heavy grade
cast iron pipe will be used to tie the proposed septic system to the subject
home.The proposed septic repairs as submitted are an improvement of the
existing situation and are hereby approved.Please follow this project
closely to insure proper distances are indeed maintained and the job is
performed in a timely manner.
