Scott, Project Engineer DATE: June 1, 2020 RE: In-Ground Pool Application — 223 Norton Lane My review of the permit application for construction of a new in-ground pool is complete. Materials used include the Town of South Windsor Swimming Pool Zoning Sign-Off Requirements (dated 6/12/2012) and the draft Town of South Windsor Pool Sign-Off Requirements (dated 6/1/2019). The plan for the pool is acceptable, with the following comments: • The plan does not show construction equipment access point or an anti-tracking pad to keep the roadway clean. This is a corner lot that fronts two streets, but it is anticipated the crew will enter off of Kent Lane. • Any concrete sidewalks crossed could potentially be damaged. Replacement would be required if damage occurs. • An as-built should be required before a certificate of use is issued with A-2 and T-2 certifications. • A $1,000 bond may be required to ensure erosion control measures and/or plantings are complete. R326.6.1, IRC 2018 SBC * A temporary enclosure shall be installed,for in-ground pools prior to electrical bonding inspection unless permanent barrier in Section R326.6.1, is in place prior to commencement of the installation.The temporary enclosure shall be 48" in height,shall have no openings that allow a 4"sphere to pass through and a self-closing/latching device on any openings. * Doors providing direct access to the pool area shall either have an approved alarm (UL 2017), a self- closing,self-latching device 54"from floor or the pool shall be protected with a ASTM F1346 listed powered safety cover. * No receptacle within 10' of pool. (Except locking type receptacle for pool equipment, must beat least 5'from pool and GFCI protected. * All metal parts,of the pool structure,fixed parts within 5' of pool, pump motors etc.shall be bonded with min.#8 solid copper wire using approved lugs, including pool water per 680.26©. * Convenience GFIC shall be provided between 6' and 20'from pool. * Trench depth for max. 20 amp circuit protected upstream, installed in conduit for pool equipment shall be 12' deep minimum. * A surface pool alarm shall be installed pursuant to Public Act 99-140. * All swimming pool pumps shall be provided with a time clock. * Entrapment avoidance shall be in accordance with the provisions of Section AG 106. REQUIRED SWIMMING POOL INSPECTIONS: The following list of inspections that need to be performed prior to the continuation of work. Request for inspections can be made by calling the Building Department at 860-644-2511 ext.230. (24 hrs. notice required) 1. TRENCH AND BONDING: Electrical trench depth verification and bonding of pool and metal appurtenances including metal reinforcing for gunite and concrete decks. 2. FINAL ELECTRICAL:Location of equipment and GFCI protexction, pump timer and convenience outlet. 3. FINAL:Swimming pool access protection must be in place before pool may be used.
