SWIMMING POOL RE IREMENTS:
This list is not all inclusive,please refer to pool packet.
A 48' barrier shall be provided to protect pool access. Including a temporary fence for in ground
pools prior to excavation.
•'r Access gates shall be self closing and self latching(if less than 54'high the latch shall be on the pool
side and be protected within 18'of release mechanism.
�:• Doors providing direct access to the pool area shall either have an alarm,a self closing self latching
device 54"min.from floor or the pool shall be provided with a safety cover.
:• No receptacle within 10'of pool. (Except locking type.receptacle for pool equipment,must be at least
5'from pool and GFCE protected).
ti All metal parts of the pool stricture fixed metal parts within 5' of pool, pump motors etc., shall be
bonded with a minimum#8 solid copper wire using proper bonding lugs.
:• Convenience GFCI receptacle shall be provided between 10'and 20'from pool.
:• Trench depth for 20 amp Max.GFCI protected circuit to pool equipment shall be 12'deep minimum.
S• A surface pool alarm shall be installed pursuant to Public Act 99-140.
s• All Swimming pool pumps shall be provided with a time clock.
Entrapment avoidance shall be in accordance with the provisions of Section AG106.
REQUIRED SWIMMING POOL INSPECTIONS:
The following is a list of inspections that need to be performed prior to the continuation of work. Request for
inspections can be made by call the Building Department at 644-2511 (a 24 hour notice required).
1. TRENCH AND BONDING- Electrical trench depth verification and bonding of pool and metal
appurtenances including metal reinforcing for gunite pools and concrete decks.
2. FINAL ELECTRICAL- Location of equipment and GFCI protection, pump timer and convenience
outlet provided.
3. IE NAL_Swimming pool access protection must be in place before pool may be used.
Each swimming pool installation requires a Building and an Electrical permit. Additional permits and
inspections may be required for pool decks.
