Talbot,Deputy Fire Marshal www.ci.manchester.ct.us/ March 23, 2007 Massconn Distributors 12 Commerce Way South Windsor, CT 06074 Re: Inspection Hood System /Fire Suppression The following conditions were found during my inspection of the hood and fire suppression systems, which was completed on March 22, 2007 with the maintenance person from Massconn and installer from Allstate Fire Protection Company: ■ One Captive Air Hood with make-up air& a UL 300 Fire Suppresion system with links and pull station ■ Performed a `PUFF' test on the fire suppression system with the fryer's gas, hood exhaust and make-up air on. Test went well with Natural Gas being shut down to the fryer. Also, when the make-up air was shut down, the exhaust remained on and all fire suppression heads worked. ■ This hood system is connected to the Fire Alarm system and has its own point or zone on the system that did not show up on the Fire Alarm panel. Massconn Management contacted the Fire Alarm company, who was to respond and fix the problem that afternoon. The Fire Alarm signal was received by the central station. I was also informed that the company has staff around-the-clock, seven days per week and the fryer is utilized, cleaned and maintained regularly. ■ Smoke test was performed twice and it worked well both times. Make-up air was shut down for each test. ■ The next process was to load the fryer with cooking fat/oil and begin heating it to test its usage. This went well, and I have no issues with the fryer being used. Please note that the second hood at this location could not be tested because they were cooking under the fiat part of the old hood. Photos are enclosed. Sincerely, Robert T.
