The normal clearance for single-wall stovepipe
to a combustible material is 180. The
Stovepipe Shield allows you to reduce these clearances to 60, per NFPA211, Section 6-5.1.2,
2000 Edition.

6 #10 11/2" Phillips Screws
6 Ceramic Spacers

1/8" Drill Bit
Phillips Screwdriver
Tin Snips or Offset Shears
Installatiori'Tips:
1. The Stovepipe Shield can be cut to length if desired. If cutting, it will be necessary to drill
new holes in the Shield for screws.
2. If wall protection is being used, make certain that the lower edge of the Shield is at least
4" below the upper edge of the protector.
Instructions:
1 Position the Stovepipe Shield on the stovepipe. If using more than one Shield, allow at
least 2" of overlap. Mark on the stovepipe where the top center screw hole for the top-
most Shield should be drilled. Set Stovepipe Shield aside.
2. Using a 1/6" drill bit, drill the top center hole in the stovepipe first. Insert a screw through
-the top center-hole.inAhe Stovepipe.Shield hrough=a-ceramic-spacer,-and-mto-the-W
in the stovepipe. Tighten the screw.
3. Make certain Stovepipe Shield is positioned correctly on the stovepipe, and then drill a.
second hole in the stovepipe, using a hole in the Stovepipe Shield as a pilot hole. Fasten -
with a second screw and spacer. Continue drilling holes and fastening screws one at a
time.
4. Tighten all screws.
