The purpose of this visit was to review the progress at the site in conjunction with the inspections conducted to date. The foundation for the restaurant portion was completed and the contractor was framing the walls for the bank. A brief discussion was held with the contractor with respect to curing methods to be used for the walls. Backfilling is expected to begin soon. Review of onsite conditions and inspection reports completed to date indicate that these aspects are being installed in accordance with the design drawings. Work is progressing quickly; no discrepancies were noted. The purpose of this inspection was to verify that completed work was performed utilizing the engineer-approved drawings, the project specifications, and the American Welding Society Structural Welding Code D1.1. The writer was on site as scheduled to perform a complete inspection of erected structural steel concerning the bank area (no grid locations shown on contract drawings). Dyco Industries, Inc. is responsible for the fabrication and on site erection of structural steel. Inspections were performed concerning anchor bolts, anchor bolt nuts, column plumb and bolted connections utilizing high-strength A325 tension control bolts. Approved Contract Drawings A-1-A-6 and Dyco Indus&E—Ei_ Inc. Erection Drawings El were referenced. No modifications were made in the field to column base plates. Anchor bolts exhibited the proper threaded projection as specified. Anchor bolts were in an acceptable condition with no sheared or damaged members. Anchor bolt nuts were in a fully threaded condition at all locations. Proper anchor bolt washers were installed with each bolt. Anchor bolt nuts were properly tightened. Column plumb was checked utilizing a Bazooka-Bob to ascertain if columns were within the AISC tolerance of 1:500;columns were found to be acceptable. Columns found acceptable and were marked accordingly on site. The writer applied AISC Specification 9.2.3 in order to perform an inspection of bolted connections utilizing PP P p P g high-strength 3/4" diameter A325 tension control bolts as specified by contract drawings. All 3/4" diameter tension control bolts were installed in the proper configuration and quantity. No welded in lieu of bolted connections observed. Plies of all connections were in full contact. It was verified by routine observation that the splined ends of all bolts were properly secured by the bolting crew. The installation of high-strength bolts and the erection of structural steel is acceptable concerning the bank area of the project. This inspection interval was reviewed with Mr. Mason at its conclusion. pc: Brad Downey, Orlando Annulli &Sons, Inc. jm Independent Materials Testing Laboratories,Inc.
