Doolittle, P.E., Town Engineer { Date: 3/21/02 Re: Timothy Edwards Middle School C.O. We have reviewed the status of work to be completed at Timothy Edwards Middle School that was listed in memos to Ken Fitzgerald from Mike Gantick, dated September 6 and September 10,2001. The following items still need to be completed before we can sign off on a permanent C.O. 1. The grates on the detention basin outlet structures need to be bolted down. 2. We need to receive a mylar set of as-built drawings for the Town's records. These need to include the underground irrigation system. 3. The operation and maintenance manuals should be forwarded to us. 4. There is still construction debris buried in an area north of the tennis courts. The area, depth and type of construction debris must be determined and unsuitable material removed. Additional suitable fill and topsoil must be spread, raked and seeded in this area. See the attached memo from Jeff Folger. 5. There is a stockpile of contaminated soil onsite that we recommend be removed and disposed in an appropriate manner. Please call me at(644-2511 x 245)to let me know when the contractor will be on-site to complete this work, and if you have any questions. CC: Matthew B. Galligan,Town Manager Michael Gantick, Director of Public Works; Barry Guliano,Town Attorney; Marcia A. Banach, Director of Planning; John Collins, Chief Building Inspector, Bob Deptula, Sanatarian Memorandum To: Jeffrey Doolittle,Town Engineer CC: Director of Public Works From: Jeff Folger,Environmental Planner Date: 03/22/02 Re: Timothy Edwards Middle School In November of 2000,in response to concerns from a zoning Commission member,Karl Reichle (Superintendent of Parks and Grounds)and I inspected the eastern portion of the athletic fields at the Timothy Edwards Middle School. This area was the location of several stockpiles of soil and during the construction of the addition to the school. We found evidence that construction debris were buried in this area. Pieces of metal strapping, metal armored electric cable, asphalt, and wooden debris were present half buried in the ground;protruding so as to cause concern with the safety of people utilizing the field. Karl notified Pat Hankard(Director of Facility Services)of the presence of the debris, and the need to remove it. Additional concerns were voiced recently that debris were still present in the area. A follow up inspection by Karl and me revealed asphalt still present. A piece of plastic was found partially buried as well. It appears that the metal debris present in the fall had been removed. Additionally, siltfencing is still present along the perimeter of the disturbed areas throughout the site. Also some additional construction debris(metal pipe, wood)are present along the southern edge of the large detention basin. A follow-up inspection of the site(March 2002)was done to determine the presence and depth of the material present in the area north of the tennis courts. It appears that the metal strapping and conduit was removed, however large pieces of asphalt were still present at the surface. A soil auger and spade was used to try to dig past the fill material. Due to the rocky composition of the fill material I was only able to dig down a few inches,so the inspection was inconclusive. Recommendations: Since the area is fairly localized(approximately 50 feet in diameter)I would recommend three or four shallow test holes be dug to determine the type and depth of the debris present. If the debris consist of inert fill material(concrete, stone)I would recommend covering the area with 4 inches of topsoil and seeding with an appropriate grass cover. Electronic Cam LMV36 - LMV37 Display Interface AZL21 - SAFE AND GREEN Riello experience in combustion technology is very well demonstrated in the combustion head of New RS - RLS burner models and assures smooth ignition, safe operation, and environmentally friendly emissions. Riello burners excels in producing burners which perform well with minimal excess air, this enhances system efficiency and reduces greenhouse gas emissions such as CO2. With oxygen levels of only 3% (')typical in the products of combustion and turndown ratios of up to 10-1 N on natural gas, system efficiencies are truly maximised. In addition to our standard product we also have available Low NOx models which use an Advanced Combustion Technology in order to reach NOx values of less than 30ppm (') during the combustion of natural gas without the requirement of Flue Gas Recirculation; this enhances system efficiency in comparison with traditional FGR systems and reduces system/installation costs. (') NOx emissions and Modulation ratios are verified in our Research Center; not all field applications allow similar performance. If guaranteed emissions and/ or turndown are required please contact Riello Burners Commercial and Technical Department. Specifically designed combustion head configurations are available for low gas supply pressure applications. Please contact Riello Commercial and Technical Department, our Application Engineers will be pleased to help you. r DESIGN AND STYLE Since the beginning of our industrial development, Riello has looked for a relationship between Industry and Style in order to help maintain the reputation of Italian design on the world stage. Once again the New R Series preserves the marriage between Performance and Design, giving the product range an unmistakable Style. R1ELL0 Wide Product variants In order to satisfy market requirements the New R Series is available for many different fuels and modes of operation. Hankard, Director of Building Mainten ce SUBJECT: Certificate of Flame Resistance DATE: March 23, 2007 Please find enclosed a copy of the certificate of flame resistance for the new Cyclorama Curtain installed at Timothy Edwards Middle School. PTH:kd M410 CERTIFICATE OF FLAME RESISTANCE Rose Brand is in business in New York, New York, with headquarters in Secaucus, New Jersey and offices also in California. The IFR (Inherently Flame Retardant)fabric described below meets the minimum requirements of flame resistance established by the following tests: i • NFPA 701 (1989 ed.), small scale • NFPA 701 (2004 ed.),test method#1 • California Administrative Code Title 19, Paragraph 1237.1, small scale i Woven with non-combustible fibers, this fabric is Inherently and permanently flame l resistant for the life of the fabric. The flame resistance will NOT wash out. Rose Brand, however, recommends annual testing of the fabric using the NFPA 705 (1997 or later) Field Test Method for Textiles, as accumulations of airborne dust and oils may diminish i the flame resistance of the fabric. Cold water washing with gentle detergent followed by air drying will restore any lost flame retardance. i Due to the lightness of this fabric, however, its behavior in the NFPA 705 (1997 or later) i Field Test may lead the observer to conclude that the fabric is not flame resistant. As per the NFPA, lab test results demonstrate a truer measure of the flame resistance of the fabric than the field test. Tanks can be used for service of 180 degree Fahrenheit in continuous service, or intermittent use of 212 degree Fahrenheit. Tops are bolted, fittings for inlet, outlet and vent connections are made of polyethylene and welded into the penetrations provided in the tanks. Size Tanks shall be Orion Style 5, with 55 gallon capacity having 3" FIP inlet and outlet connections and a 2"FIP vent connection. Tank shall be 22 1/2 inches in diameter(I.D.)and 33 1/2 inches in overall height. Tank must be installed in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. See attached tank data sheet for more dimensional information. Limestone Usage Limestone chips are used in numerous applications to help neutralize chemical bearing wastes (e.g. acid wastes). After years of successful neutralization, many states and local environmental codes call for the addition of limestone chips into acid neutralization basins, tanks or sumps. Water is added to initiate the dilution process. In the case of the 55 gallon tank we recommend the tank be filled with 500 lbs of limestone chips. Orion recommends the limestone chips be one to three inches in diameter size range and have a calcium carbonate content in excess of 90%. Maintenance of Tanks Proper maintenance of neutralization tanks is essential for proper neutralization of wastes in the system. Tanks must be cleaned out periodically of all sludge, foreign matter, and checked for proper amount of limestone. A regular program of one to three months should be observed, but more or less frequent inspections may be necessary, depending on usage.
