Must Be Used. This air space acts as an insulator and reduces the r outside surface temperature to allow a clearance to combustibles of 1 to 3 inches. Follow vent t manufacturer's guidelies and instructions. The sections of pipe lock together to form an air tight seal in most cases. However, in some cases a perfect seal is not achieved. For this reason and the fact that the P43 operates with a positive vent pressure we specify that the joints also be sealed with silicone. Aluminum tape can also be used for any joint that is 1 ft.or more from the outlet of the stove. We cannot emphasize enough, the importance of sealing every seam and joint in the venting system which is inside the home. Even the smallest pin hole can leak and when it does you will smell wood smoke _ or a creosote smell in the room. If this occurs check ' O for leaks. Leaks are easiest to see during start-up. Alternatively you can use a smoke pellet to leak test the venting before lighting your first fire. A CHIMNEY MUST BE OF A TYPE O SUITABLE FOR SOLID FUEL. 41 CHIMNEY AND CONNECTOR MUST BE 0=Positive Static Pressure MAINTAINED IN GOOD CONDITION AND 0 =Negative Static Pressure I KEPT CLEAN. Fig 7 Avoiding Smoke and Odors Venting Negative Pressure, Shut-down, and Power A combustion blower is used to extract the Failure: combustion gases from the firebox. This causes To reduce the probability of back-drafting or 4 a negative pressure in the firebox and a positive burn-back in the pellet burning appliance during pressure in the venting system as shown in Fig. 7. power failure or shut-down conditions, the stove The longer the vent pipe and more elbows used in must be able to draft naturally without exhaust the system, the greater the flow resistance. The use of a starting collar is under these conditions. not always necessary. The first piece of pipe must be fastened securely with at least 2 fasteners to the Outside Air: flue collar of the stove. The two screws provided Harman Home Heating and Hearth&Home Tech- are a self-drilling style, however, due to material nologies strongly recommend attaching outside thickness, drilling a 3/32" pilot hole is recommended. air in all installations, especially lower level and main floor locations. P43 Pellet Stove 9 EXCELPellet CONNECTED TO TYPE A CHIMNEY Figure 13 shows a typical connection of EXCELPellet and type A chimney. This application is normally used when replacing a wood stove with a particulate fuel-burning appliance. Note: Connection to a particulate fuel-burning appliance using agricultural products to some brands of type A chimney may void the type A warranty. 1. Remove the existing connector pipe, leaving the type A stove pipe adapter in place. 2. The interior of the existing chimney needs to be completely cleaned of soot and creosote. It should also be inspected by a qualified technician(sweep, building inspector, etc.)for structural integrity. 3. Use the correct size type A chimney Adapter (PM-PAA6, PM-PAA7 or PM-PAA8) for your application. The adapter should be installed on the outside of the type A stove pipe adapter left in place and secured with the three#8 x 1/2"screws provided. 4. Apply high temperature silicone caulking between the two liners of the Universal Stove Adapter (PM-PAS). Fasten the Universal Stove Adapter to the appliance flue collar using two #8 sheet metal screws. You may need to drill 1/8"diameter holes in the stove outlet if it is made of thick steel. Note: The 4"tee with 3"mouth/Stove Adapter(PM-3PAT4)or the Tapered/Stove Adapter 3"-4"(PM-3PI4)may also be used as stove adapters as an alternative to the PM-PAS. 5. Install the appropriate lengths of EXCELPellet on the appliance up to the chimney adapter. You may also need a slip length. Secure the slip length the same way as a regular length. Put a small amount of liquid dish soap on each gasket to make it easier to assemble the vent lengths. Do not use a petroleum-based lubricant. Fasten additional parts as necessary. Refer to Figures 1, 2 or 3 for typical installations. 7. If you are going up on the outside of the wall you will need to install an Wall Support. Pre-assemble the support as shown on Figure 4. The collar is F ` adjustable for a 3 or 4,chimney. Install the wall support on the vent. Tighten the band locking bolt just enough to hold the wall support in place. 8. Fasten the Wall Support brackets to the outside wall in a convenient location. Figure 4 First, drive two #8 x 1 1/2" or larger screws into the slotted holes. When you are certain of the bracket locations use two#8 x 1 1/2"or larger screws in the round holes to firmly attach the brackets in place. Insure that screws are solidly fastened to the wall structure. The Wall Support brackets are slotted to allow them to adjust in and out.Adjust the brackets so that the vent is a minimum of 1"from the wall and parallel with it. Tighten the Wall Support collar around the vent, and then secure it using at least two#6 x 1/4"screws provided. 9. Install additional Wall Supports as required at maximum intervals specified on page 2.The Wall Support should be adjusted to ensure the vent is vertical and at 1"(or more)clearance to combustibles. At the end of the last length, install an Adjustable Jet Cap (PM-PCJ), a Horizontal Cap (PM-PCH) or a Spark Screen(PM-PCS). EXCELPellet 7 Owner's Manual I L Introduction The P43 Pellet Stove has huge features in a small package, giving you 0 to 43,000 BTU when you automatically. You basically need to set your desired room temperature and fill the hopper. With the will notice even heat throughout your zone and a level of convenience you never thought possible. The P43 epitomizes the capability of Harman Pellet Stoves, taking advantage of Harman's 20+years stove design, technology and manufacturing. This 43,000 BTU stove has the smartest controls coup minimal maintenance. The P43's output is managed by a microprocessor that senses the room temr and the fire temperature with tiny thermistor probes and then determines the best feed rate for your demand. This improved and smarter control also has a diagnostic port which allows a service repress to attach an external display showing live working data for ease in troubleshooting. The platinum combination is Harman's Patented Feeder & Burn Pot, and ESP Control which hav developed to their highest state. These features work together to allow amazing heat output with little for fuel quality.
