Richard Bond,SW PD Peachbrooke of south Windsor October 12, 2007 Dear Homeowner, The town of South Windsor has passed a new town wide ordinance concerning the establishment and proper use of fire lanes. What this means for Peachbrooke is that the South Windsor Police Dept. has now been given the authority to come onto private properties like ours,and police our fire lanes. As stated in the ordinance they can either ticket or tow cars that are found unattended or standing disabled in the designated fire lanes. We have had a few instances where fire apparatus have responded to fires here,and had difficulty maneuvering around because of where cars were parked.These instances occurred during the winter months where the open flow of traffic was further hampered because of freshly plowed snow around cars and snow accumulations at the curbs.This all contributed to severely narrowed passageways. We have made two changes to our existing fire lane and parking space layout.The single parking space to the right of the gang mail box at the beginning of Daisy Lane has been eliminated.This space will become part of the fire lane allowing a better flow of traffic,and also enable the snow plow to make an unobstructed pass when clearing snow.Also two additional parking spaces have been added around the gazebo island.The rest of the layout will remain as it presently exists. We have complied with the town in defining our fire lanes in accordance with the new ordinance specifications with signs and repainted curb markings. Both the fire marshal and the police department have approved our submitted layout. The Board of Directors wants to make the following requests.Since the number of available parking spaces is very limited here we ask that these spaces not be used for inactive car storage. If you must park on the street please park between the white lines only. And lastly, during the winter months when snow is predicted or it is actually snowing it would be very helpful for as many cars as possible to be off the streets,at least until the complex has been plowed out.
