Dear Ms. Shimanski:
On June 20, 2008, I received and review the above referenced application and a plan
showing the proposed pool location to ensure compliance with the Connecticut Public
Health Code. The Public Health Code requires that a property contain a code complying
area, or suitable potential repair area before a permit to construct a pool can be issued.
The repair area is delineated based upon soil observations (deep test pits), slope,
percolation rate, and the number of bedrooms of the house.
As the applications states, "Soil test data is required for the review of this application. If
the data is not available, you will need to schedule an appointment with the health
department to conduct this testing". You may call this office to schedule an appointment
when you have hired a backhoe to dig the deep test pits.
In addition to the above mentioned, the plan submitted for review showed that the
proposed pool may be on top of your existing septic system. The location of your septic
system and your proposed pool location will be verified at the time of soil testing.
Unfortunately, at this time your application cannot be approved. If you have any

drains and water courses.
Building plan - attach a sketch/floor plan of the proposed structure, addition or renovation showing
