3/31/15 11a. — HO spoke with complainant. Called Berkshire Hathaway and spoke with Maryanne
about condition of well cover. Site visit scheduled for 3/31/15 at 2pm.
2p — At home with Maryanne Latimer. Pictures taken, cover cracked. Area taped off by HO and
Maryanne. HO to mail letter to estate/B.H. re: cover repair. Licensed well driller to evaluate.
2p — HO received vmail from Melissa (daughter). Called back and discussed work to be completed.
4/1/15 HO Mailed letter to Melissa.
4/7/15 8am — HO received vmail from Melissa re: contractor to repair.
10:35am — Melissa called back, Dufford Drillers to repair.
10:40am — HO called Dufford to confirm. Work to be completed week of 4/6/15. HO to site visit and
confirm week of 4/13/15.
4/16/15 8:15am — HO received vmail from Dufford re: exemption and to code or rpair cover.
8:25 — HO called back re: brought to code, not patched. Melissa requested only patch, house sold
"As Is". HO to call her re: Code Requirements.
4/17/15 8am - vmail from Dufford re: completed project. HO to verify.
10am — HO visited house, repairs completed.

It has been brought to the attention of the South Windsor Health Department that the well
cover at the above referenced property is in a condition that poses both a safety concern
and water safety concern. With the help of Maryann Latimer (Berkshire Hathaway), the
area was taped off with caution tape to prevent any injury or further damage on March
31, 2015.
According to the Connecticut Public Health Code Sec. 19-13-135lj(a) "Any equipment,
piping or appurtenance, permanently installed in a well, shall be joined watertight to the
well casing at the point of entrance to the well by a well top seal or equally effective
means." To restore the well to this condition, the work must be performed by a licensed
plumber or well driller. Additionally, before the well can be used as a water source
again, the water shall be tested for potability.
