The Atty. for Carla’s Pasta testified to an air quality from truck emissions concern, affecting the adjacent business that is in the production of food products for public consumption.
Emissions entering the air intake of the production facility have the potential to effect the quality of their product. The applicant offered no evidence to mitigation measures other
than the idling of truck signage. Enforcement is through a complaint hotline
The testimony provided regarding the normal procedures that truck operators conduct prior to leaving the site takes up to ½ hour. Trucks idle during this time. This appears to supersede
the maximum idle time allowed by the State.
The reduction of trees on site facilitates the transport of polluted air/particulates off site to area businesses and residential homes.
Lack of oversight at the state level leaves us with nothing tangible for pollution enforcement other than through the EPA Clean Air Act.
The queuing area for the trucks concentrates 8 trucks in an area within close proximity to the residential area and existing businesses to the west. Without knowing the actual operations
of a tenant, the town has no guarantee of the number of trucks that will actually be coming on site. Testimony has shown the potential of trucks impacting the Town’s roads by queuing
into the street.
