Re: Chickens
Dear Mr. Siracusa and Ms. Sousa;
It has come to my attention that you are keeping a number of chickens
and roosters on your property at 423 Niederwerfer Road. Please be
advised that the Town of South Windsor, in Section 7.12 of the Zoning
Regulations, requires a permit be issued for home animal agriculture
activities. I have enclosed an application form for your use, as well as a
copy of the relevant regulations.
The nature of the call alerting me to your chickens was a complaint
regarding the presence of your chickens on nearby property, and the
destruction of that property. The regulations specify that the animals be
kept in a manner that does not impact the environmental quality of the
neighborhood. Please take steps immediately to ensure that your
chickens do not leave your property, and demonstrate how you are
accomplishing that in your permit application.

extension 251 . Please submit your application by April 17, 2017 to avoid
potential enforcement action by this office. Thank you for your prompt
attention to this matter.
