Re: Chickens
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Chin;
It has come to my attention that you are keeping a number of chickens
on your property at 95 High Street. The nature of the call alerting me to
your chickens was a complaint regarding the presence of your chickens
on adjacent property, and the destruction of that property. The
regulations specify that the animals be kept in a manner that does not
impact the environmental quality of the neighborhood.
Please be advised that the Town of South Windsor, in Section 7.12 of the
Zoning Regulations, requires a permit be issued for home animal
agriculture activities. In 2012, the Planning & Zoning Commission (PZC)
adopted a policy that for lots smaller than one acre, a homeowner would
be allowed to have no more than four (4) chickens without the need for a
permit.
Please take steps immediately to ensure that your chickens do not leave
your property to avoid enforcement action by this office. If you have any
