Re: Operation of business out of residence
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Jackson:
It has come to my attention recently that you may be operating a business out of
your property at 334 Strong Road. The Town's Public Works Department
reported that you had requested additional recycling container from All American
Waste. All American Waste said that they were not providing the container, as
you indicated that it was needed for cardboard from a home business.
Please be advised that while the Town of South Windsor allows a resident to
operate a business out of their home, the business must meet the criteria
specified in the regulations, and a permit must be obtained pLior to the start of
business. A review of my files does not show a permit being taken out by you.
The Town of South Windsor Zoning Regulations outlines the standards
that must be met for home occupations to be allowed in residential
zones in Section 7.11, Home Occupations. Section 7.11.3 Performance
Criteria details the differences between a minor and major home
occupation. In order to be granted a Home Occupation permit, your business
must meet the criteria specified in these regulations.

I have included a permit application for a minor home occupation, as well as a
Planning &Zoning Commission application for a major home occupation. Please
complete and submit the appropriate application for a determination of
compliance with the regulations within ten (10) days to avoid enforcement action
from this office. If you have any questions, please call me at (860) 644-2511,
