STRUCTURAL STEEL FIELD INSPECTION
Performed bolt tension testing at new package building. Random locations were tested
on various size hex-head bolts Type A307 or Type A325, on tapered-web members and
on formed-sheet members.
Thirty representative samples all tested in conformance with AISC Code of Standard
Practice specifications for tightening by "turn-of-the-nut" method in joints using ASTM
A325 on A490 bolts, i.e. 1/3 to 1/2 turn±30 degrees beyond"snug-tight", as specified by
manufacturing A& S Building Systems.
Remarks:
Visual inspections on earlier visits and on this visit found no discrepancies with regard to contact
between faying surfaces in bolted connections. 3 column bases on North wall have incomplete
anchor bolt connections to baseplates as reported previously
