Foundation condition- V rtiwal crack full height at one corner. Caused by backfilling and subsequent straightening. D sign of wall and capacity is due to wall acting vertically. It is restrained by the slab on grade, and at top by sill, anchor bolts, and weight of framing. Theoretically, you could out vertical slots in wall full height, and each section would work by itself. Obviously it requires anchor bolts being present in v ry section. In excessively high walls, piers or buttresses ar built, but this is not the case here. This 10 inch wall, unr inforeed, 8 feet high, will work with the crack; assuming anchor bolts are present, and the base slab is intact. It was wat rproofed on exterior, I was told, so I suggest a mortar mix b used to finish interior. Typical window head-exterior- no drip cap used. MASS MEMORANDUM March 13, 1979 To: Don McLaughlin, Building Inspector Re: Lot 37 - Carriage Drive In conformance with Section 2.6.b of the Subdivision Regulations regarding finished grading and other site work that is not completed, an inspection of Lot 37 on March 12, 1979 revealed substantial grading, loaning and seeding to be done. A large pile of loam exists close to the house which is anticipated to be used on the site for this purpose. I understand this activity is being done under the owner permit concept as opposed to the builder permit. This does not reduce the quality of the materials or the workmanship. Nor does it change the obligation of the Town on the inspection or to the protection of character of the neighborhood. The house would be sold, if someone came with the right price. The restric- tions on the builder cannot change. It is the recommendation of this department that a certificate of occupancy not be issued without a bond or security acceptable to the Engineering Department in the amount of $4,000 to cover the cost of these improvements as provided for in the Section 2.6.b. le 00'4>ae.4 A.
