Re: Capital Moving &Storage—220 Strong Rd Complaint
Capital Moving and Storage on Strong Rd has sent me a letter stating that they continue to
have water run-off from Strong Road along their southwest boundary into their property. They
state that in the past the Town put up curbing to deflect the water to the street drain but it
appears to them that the curb needs to be extended. They are asking if extending the curb
will solve this problem.
I do not recall when or how we extended the curbing in that area in the past(1998?). 1 will ask
Bernard to take a look. It appears that there was vehicular traffic through that area recently by
the soil stockpiles by Capital.
This site had received a certificate of occupancy without obtaining approvals from the
Engineering Division. I had sent a letter to The President of Capital Moving informing him of
our concerns and recommended that they prepare an as-built of the site and perform an
Engineering analysis of the capacity of their retention basin to ensure that there are no
adverse impacts and subsequent litigation do to flooding of the adjacent properties. I had
informed him that flooding had been observed in areas outside of the retention basin and
swale onto properties to the west.
Due to this site being given a C.O.without Engineering approval and the potential for litigation
from adjacent properties, I would recommend us to look closely at placing curbing along this
property, whether or not absolutely necessary in order to limit our exposure.
I will have Bemie take a look. if you could also take a look it would be greatly appreciated.
I had spoken to Mel on 6/17/03 regarding this and he will take a look. He said that they had done
some curbing out there before and had installed an apron where Capital was driving equipment
across and didn't have any plans to do any more work out there.. He said that he had met with
their site manager a number of times out there in the past and would need to know a specific area
that they were concerned with in order to determine what needs to be done.
