Dear Mr. Collins:
Because of field construction changes,we have decided to reclassify the entire referenced building as Construction Type
5B, even though most portions ofthe building are of a superior construction type. The 5B limitations of height and area,
per Table 503,for the various uses in the building are as follows:
USE AREA&HEIGHT AREA ALLOWED WITH INCREASE PER SECTION 506.2
A-3 4200 sq ft, 1 story 8736 sq ft
B 7200 sq ft,2 story 14,976 sq ft
F-1 4800 sq ft,I story 9984 sq ft
We have calculated the building perimeter at 450 feet,25%ofwhich is 101.25 feet. The perimeter fronting on open space
of 30 feet or greater is 324 feet. Subtracting 102 feet from 324 feet gives us 222 feet which is 54%ofthe total perimeter.
Therefore,per Section 506.2,a footprint increase of 108%is allowed. Those increases are tabulated above.
As the actual building area is 6,189 SF,the reclassification to 5B is satisfactory. This also means that no special fire walls,
fire shutters or other such items are necessary and that wood framing may be utilized for some minor walls and roofs.
