In accordance with Section 29-296 of the Connecticut General Statutes,the decision
of the Office of the State Fire Marshal in this matter is:
This modification request seeks relief to Part III; Section 1023.4 of the 2018 Connecticut State
Fire Safety Code, to permit properly fire resistance rated door assemblies with approved
hardware from four (4) Storage Rooms (spaces deemed normally unoccupied by the code), to
open into the Interior Exit Stair Enclosure (which serves as a single exit) within this new Two (2)
Story, Eight(8) Dwelling Unit Apartment Building, is ACCEPTABLE. This decision is based
on the use of the Automatic Sprinkler System conforming to the requirements of NFPA-13R
installed throughout the Building, as well as the unoccupied spaces, along occupant notification
throughout the building through the Automatic Fire Alarm System.
