Re: Persons Wearing Dress Clothing During Pool Use
Dear Mr.Warshaysky,
As per our telephone conversation on June 2,2016,persons should not be permitted to
use a public swimming pool while dressed in full clothing.
Public Health Code Regulation 19-13-B33b requires that all persons bathe with warm
water and soap prior to pool use. This is to reduce the amount of Contamination
introduced into the pool, which will impact water quality.
The wearing of dress clothing into a swimming pool will introduce many sources of
contamination(microbial,organic, laundry detergent,dyes,pieces of fabric,etc.)for
which the pool filtration, recirculation, and disinfection systems have not been designed
to accommodate.
Additionally, the added weight and possible clothing entanglement, present an increased
risk to the bather as well as emergency services personnel.
I would recommend that you include in the pool rules distributed to your pool users that
the wearing of dress clothing is not permitted.
If I can be of any further assistance, please feel free to call me.
Sincerely,
Diane L. Collelo, BS, CPO
