(Zuvic) on behalf of Mannarino Builders, Inc. (MB), has prepared this remedial action Plan pesticide contaminated soil identified at the above-referenced site. Th RAP will presedntt the procedures to be implemented to cleanup areas where elevated concentrations of residual pesticides need to be reduced to acceptable standards. The site, located east of Barber Hill Road, is the location of the proposed. Dzen Tree Farm b, subdivision to be built by MB, and was historically used for agricultural ses with crops including strawberries, blueberries, Christmas trees, and potatoes. To assesssoil conditions related to historic agricultural use, soil, samples were collected°in November 2006, October and November 2007, and February 2008 and submitted to a Connecticut certified laboratory for analysis of pesticides and arsenic. The sampling results were published in reports dated November 2007 and February 2008. Remediation Target Arias The sampling analytical results were compared to the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (CTDEP) Remediation Standard Regulations criteria esDEC for R) residential direct exposure- (R ) pesticides and herbicides. Sample locations where concentrations of pesticides or arsenic were above the ResDEC were included on a summary table and highlighted on the attached Figure 1. Although the RSRs are not applicable to current or former agricultural properties, such as this site, they were used to broadly assess soil quality and to be a consery ative baseline as to what concentrations may be considered acceptable by the To South Windsor. Remediation target .areas were determined by first calculating the horizontal limits of contaminated soil and extending vertical contamination limits to approximately four to six inches below the deepest depth of reported soil contamination. The horizontal limits were calcl at by drawing lines through points that were equidistant from the most adjacent `clean' and u ed Remedial Action Plan 030308 1090 Elm Street, Suite 102 • Rocky Hill, CT 06067 0 PHONE 860.436.4901 0 FAX 860.436.4953
