MEMORANDUM To: Michele Lipe, Town Planner From: Jeffrey Doolittle,Town Engineer Y-V Date: 1/27/11 RE: App 11-05P FedEx Ground Site Plan, 40 Kennedy Road &Sullivan Avenue Engineering Staff have reviewed the site plans and drainage report for the proposed Fed Ex Ground distribution center at Sullivan Avenue and 40 Kennedy Road and have the following comments: 1. Sidewalk ramps should be shown where the sidewalks meet or cross the driveways on this site. 2. Should there be a stop sign and stop bar in the main driveway by the security gate in both directions? 3. There is an inlet to both Basins 4 and 5 that is very close to the basin outlet. These inlets should be moved further away from the outlets to prevent short circuiting. This could be done in Basin 4 by moving CB#11 to the north along the curb and regrading the comer of this paved area so it is not a low point. For Basin 5, the piping in the parking lot the east would have to be modified so the pipes discharged to this basin from CB#52 and possibly CB#55. 4. All the detention basins are wet bottomed basins with dry weather water depths ranging from 1.5'to 5' deep. Detention Basin#6, between Sullivan Avenue and an auto parking lot, has a permanent 5'deep pool with 3:1 slopes below the aquatic shelf and 4:1 slopes above the aquatic shelf. For the 10 year storm the pool water depth is 8.5'deep and it is 10' deep for the 100 year storm. Detention Basin#6 is not included within the fenced area and it appears to be accessible to the public from Sullivan Avenue and the auto parking lot, so the applicant may want to consider fencing around detention basin#6. 5. The Drainage Report and the plans call for hooded outlets in the catch basins discharging to the detention basins. CB#35 should be shown with a hooded outlet. 6. The trap hoods will need to be removed from the pipes and taken out through the catch basin tops to inspect and clean the catch basins. I do not think trap hoods larger than for 24 inch diameter pipe will fit through the catch basin grate opening. Check to be sure the trap hoods sized and shown on the details can easily be removed from the catch basins and modify the plans as needed with different trap hoods or different locations for the trap hoods proposed. 7. Flared end inlets to detention basins 2, 3 and 4 should have dprap aprons similar to Basins 1, 5 and 6. 1
