These utilities will be difficult to construct and maintain.I suggest they spread out more. Response: As directed by the Client,VHB designed the utility corridor to be compact, with telephone, data, fire, and electric contained within a single duct bank and water and sewer separated by a minimum of 10 feet. The General Contractor is aware of the construction difficulties associated with the narrow utility corridor. Comment 16: Change all the 4"sewer laterals to 6"laterals outside the buildings per Town standards. Response: Per approval from the Sewer Commission, laterals may be 4 inches, where appropriate to encourage cleansing velocities. Comment 17: Provide estimated flows for the 3"sewer force main for future development. Response: Estimated flows for the force main(peak:2.58 CFS)have been included in the technical data supplement already submitted to the Town. VHB has performed estimated sizing calculations for the force main and will upgrade from a 3-inch to a 4-inch line. Comment 18: Label sanitary sewer pipe slopes on the plans. Response: The plans have been updated to include sewer pipe slope. All pipe crossings have been designed to provide at least 8 inches of vertical separation. Comment 19: Show a profile of the utility pipes including sewer, storm drainage, water and others to insure there are no conflicts where these utilities cross. Response: VHB has checked all utility crossings to confirm that no conflicts are present. Comment 20: There are two trees shown near the electrical switchgear manhole that look like they should be relocated to avoid conflicts. Response: The location of the trees will be discussed with Connecticut Light and Power to determine necessary clearance of the switchgear. \\Ri-data\projects\72189.00\dots\Permits\Comment Response Letters\Jeff Doolittle Comment Response.doc
