Introduction
tSanitary sewer design flow estimates,as calculated herein, are based on information
provided by Gaskell Associates Consulting Engineers,Connecticut Public Health
Code, and the Connecticut Department of Public Health Technical Standards for
sewer design. For the purposes of the analysis, the development includes the
Connecticut Studios Project,as previously described, and provides additional
I capacity for development potential of the remaining developable area,as allowed in
the CD zone.
Per the planset provided to the Town on February 26,2010,VHB designed an 8-inch
gravity sewer main from an existing 30-inch main in Chapel Road, southerly into the
subject property, connecting to sewer laterals from all studio buildings, thence
southerly to a terminus manhole(SMH 7). VHB designed a dry,3-inch force main
from SMH 7. The force main would exit SMH 7 in a southerly direction with a
' terminus in the landscape area to the south of the Connecticut Studios Site. VHB
anticipates that any development of the undeveloped area would require a pump
station to bring sewer to SMH 7. The following sections provide supporting
1 calculations for this design. .

Studio Building Design Flow
• Office= (22,000 SF)(1 person/100 SF)(25 GPD per person) =5,500 GPD
' • Production= (estimated 100 persons)(25 GPD per person) =2,500 GPD
• Total = (5,500 GPD+2,500 GPD) =8,000 GPD
' • Average Flow Rate (AFR) at 9 hours of operation=
(8,000 GPD/9)(1 HR/60 MIN) =14.8 GPM or 0.033 CFS
• Peak Flow Rate(PFR) =4 x AFR=0.13 CFS
