On Saturday 10 MAY 08 at 1918 hours,Ofc Eckblom 172 and I were dispatched to a two-car motor vehicle accident with no injuries
at the intersection of Chapel Road and John Fitch Boulevard. Chapel Road travels east and west. The westbound lanes approaching
John Fitch Boulevard have a partially obscured view of the intersection due to an incline in the roadway. John Fitch Boulevard
t travels north and south. This is a four-way intersection controlled by traffic lights in all directions. At the time of
the accident,the roadway was dry,visibility was clear,and traffic volume was moderate.
Upon arrival,Ofc Eckblom Road just east of its intersection with John Fitch Boulevard,and I noticed a white male on Chapel �
throw something towards the nearby train tracks. The male was identified by his CT drivers license as the operator of vehicle '
#1, David Guiles(DOB 09 DEC 60). Vehicle#1,CT registration 558MJV,a 1990 Mazda Miata,which had sustained heavy front
end damage on the passenger side corner. Both Guiles,and his passenger,Paul Griffin(DOB 19 SEP 76),also identified by
his CT drivers license,claimed no injuries. Upon receiving Guiles'registration information,it was found that his registration '
had expired on 21 SEP 07. Upon talking to Guiles and Griffin,Ofc Eckblom and I could detect the smell of an alcoholic beverage.
Griffin stated that he had been drinking,and Guiles stated that he had not had anything to drink that evening. Later Guiles '
admitted having 2-3 beers several hours before the accident. Ofc Eckblom administered the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test
on Guiles,with negative results. Guiles requested AAA to tow his vehicle,and CT Auto Rescue responded. '
Vehicle#2,CT registration MRSESO,a 1998 Toyota Camry,was parked on the shoulder of the southbound lane of John Fitch
