In accordance with Section 29-296 of the Connecticut General Statutes, the decision
of the Office of the State Fire Marshal in this matter is;
After reviewing this request with the applicant, we have determined
g
that they essential seek to utilize a newer edition of NFPA 20,
Standard for the Installation of Stationary Pumps for Fire
Protection, rather the 1999 edition as currently referenced by Part
Ill Section 913.1 of the 2005 CT STATE FIRE SAFETY CODE WITH THE
2009 AND 2012 AMENDMENTS. Given that the State intends to adopt
the 2013 edition of NFPA 20 during the current code revision
process, this request to utilize 2013 NFPA 20 is deemed
ACCEPTABLE.
Please note that if standby power is being provided to the building, I
Part III Section 913.2.1 and Section 2702.2.20 of the State Building
Code may require the electric fire pump to be provided with the
same.
