First of all, on behalf of the CT Fire Sprinkler Coalition, thank you for volunteering
your valuable time to staff the booth at the Home Show. It is greatly appreciated
and it is a tremendous opportunity to reach thousands of CT residents, providing
education on home fire sprinklers and fire safety in general.
Please arrive at least 15- 30 minutes before your start time. Proceed to the Home
Show office to pick up your identification badge. There will be (6) badges available
for staffing the booth at any given time. If you only need one badge, take one. If you
need one for yourself and an associate then take two etc. When your time slot is
complete, please return to the office and return the name badges for the others.
https://www.cthomeshow.com/
Parking is available at the Convention Center. Please remember to give your self-
ample time to park, walk in and get your badge. Parking will be reimbursed by the
Coalition. Show your parking ticket when you pick up your badge and it will be

by the Commission on Fire Prevention and control. More Info will be coming out soon.

deterioration to the lettering. The committee is talking with the original vendor and also others for the
repair. Cost could be upwards of$40,000.00 .
Hall of Fame dinner is on April 261n
Much discussion took place on the Reginal School building plan.
Fire Chiefs—Chiefs are working on planning a "Summit" on Recruitment and Retention. The Summit will
be comprised of representatives from all the FDs in CT.The plan is to have it during the 1st or 2"d week in
April. This is in conjunction with the Grant through IAFC. There will be more information coming out on
how the funds from the grant could be expended. There is a possibility that some funds could be used to
offset basic training needs.
There will be a Training opportunity in Simsbury on the 1st week end of March. This is sponsored by the
CSFCA. Paid for through the IAFC. The title is "Beyond Helmets and Hoses".
The Chiefs are monitoring a Supreme Court case that is looking at a case where Volunteer Fire fighters

Mechanic's association.—Jay Kelly introduced himself as the new representative from the CFEMA. He
spoke that they were monitoring the activity of the new DMV interpretation of the registration rules.
Fire Marshal association. - They continue to work on five initiatives.
Joint Council of Connecticut
Fire Service Organization
1) Eliminating the date of when a single family home needs a Smoke detector.
2) Include Fire Marshal , Deputy FM and Inspector into the definition of First responder or
firefighter.
3) Look at expanding the Control training Council for training funds that are used for FM,BO and
trades,to include firefighting training .This will also require an increase on the amount of
funds collected at the time of Building permit application to cover the increase cost without
having the original group loose.
4) Requiring residential Sprinklers in new dwellings. This may be a local option.
5) To eliminate the requirement of the installation of a "Numeric" indicating CO detector when
selling a home. Allow all "listed, approved" units.
Fire Department Instructors- Association is looking for a Legislator to sponsor the FFI requirement bill
for this coming session. They will continue to push this objective.
Labor/UPFFA- Work continues on the Cancer bill with a lot of Ups and downs with groups involved.
Some consideration to look at supporting the elimination of Fire-retardant chemicals in children's
clothing and furniture. Much discussion took place as to the impact. CFMA will work with labor on this.
They continue to push for Apparatus safety Bill, which looks to require FD to test Arial devices annually
and Pumps annually.
The organization will continue the initiative to require NACAN on all first responder vehicles.
The meeting was concluded at 10:45.
There was not a date set for future meetings.
