Fire Marshal Summers,
I am writing to inform you that Community Residences,Inc.is planning on purchasing 9
Cliffwood Drive in South Windsor,CT and having it licensed by the Department of
Developmental Services as a group home.Community Residences is a not-for-profit corporation
that contracts with the Department of Developmental Services and the Department of Children
and Families to serve children with mental retardation that require support and supervision.
9 Cliffwood Drive is a 5 bedroom split level home. It is our intent to operate a five bed group
home for children at this location.We will be installing a self contained hard wired
smoke/heat/carbon monoxide detection system as well as a sprinkler system and will ensure
both meet all of the life and safety standards as specified by the Department of Developmental
Services Licensing Division.An annual license generated by DDS will be obtained each year as
required.
Given this program will house less than seven individuals and is more than 1000 feet from any
other licensed facility,it is my understanding that we should not be in violation of any local
zoning regulations.If this is not the case,or,you have any questions or concerns,I would

As 1 stated above it is our intent to place five children into this licensed facilitywith an opening
