Dear Property Owner,
As you may be aware, your property is involved in the Water Supply Consent Orders
(WSCOs) WC-4458 modified and WC-4949. These WSCOs identified drinking water
supply wells potentially polluted with historic agricultural pesticides. As of 2005 (most
recent water test on file for this property)there were levels of these pesticides in the raw
water sample taken from your well within the detection limits. According to our records,
there is a GAC water filtration system on the property. In a letter sent to home owners in
October of 2005,the funding for the grant program covering filter maintenance had been
exhausted and it would be the property owners' responsibility to maintain.
In an attempt to ensure safe drinking water for all property owners in South Windsor,we
are surveying all properties involved in the WC-4458 modified and WC-4949 whose
current water quality is unknown. The town of South Windsor, in partnership with the
Department of Environmental and Energy Protection, is looking into grant opportunities
to connect properties to water utilities where feasible. Please complete and return the
enclosed survey to help us update our records.
As you review the options on the survey, please keep in mind that the town of South
Windsor will provide water testing and analysis free of charge. Thank you in advance for
