FYI. The property owners hired a contractor to remove 15-17 gallons of oil from well. The
property owners asked to leave residual oil in well due high estimates from well/plumber
contractors and instead have a filter system installed in house. My supervisor has agreed
and the case will be closed with DEEP. The property owners will have the well water tested
for potability. Thank you for all your help.

Hi Sherry,
Thank you so much for coming out to the site the other day to assess the environmental
conditions and to meet with me. The information you provided through your e-mail below is
very helpful. Based on our investigation data, conceptual site model, and recent
information gathered during interviews, it now appears likely that the motor oil found in
the private well at 1668 Main Street was from an intentional dumping approximately 10
years ago. The property owners are in the process of removing the oil from the well, and
once completed, will hire a plumber to clean out the casing and install a new pump. If
you need any more information from me (DEEP) , please do not hesitate to contact me.

I reviewed the building files for 1658 Main Street — to see if I could find anything of
relevance in regards to the barn. I found nothing. There are quite a few private wells
in the area of the home at 1668 Main Street. Call me if you need more information on
which homes have private wells. I pulled a few files and found some well permits.
