The water sample was analyzed for the presence of aromatic(fuel oil/gasoline compounds)and chlorinated(degreasing-agents)volatile organic compounds(VOCs). The results for the water sample were none detected for all compounds tested except for a trace (<0.5 parts per billion)level of trichloroethene(TCE). TCE is a common degreaser. The Connecticut Department of Public Health has established a drinking water action level for trichloroethene in drinking water of 5.0 parts per billion. The DEP will be investigating potential sources of the trichloroethene pollution in the area. Should you have any questions regarding this letter,please feel free to call me at(860)424-3778.
