RE: Water Sample Results, 501 Miller Road, South Windsor,CT
Dear Mr.Cyr:
Enclosed please find a copy of the results for the water samples that were collected on February
24, 1999 from the outside tap at the above captioned property. The water samples were analyzed for the
presence of aromatic(fuel oillgasoline compounds)and chlorinated(degreasing agents)volatile organic
compounds(VOCs).
The results for the water samples identified the presence of one chlorinated VOCs:
-trichloroethene 80.0 parts per billion
Trichloroethene was identified in the water sample collected at your home. The concentration
found is above the action level that has been established by the Connecticut Department of Public
Health's(DPH).The action level for trichloroethene in drinking water is 5 parts per billion. An action
level is the concentration at or above which the DPH has determined there could be a risk to the health of
persons consuming the water. Based on the results, the water iLD_Qj suitable for drinking purposes. The
other compounds were found at trace levels.
Arrangements have been made by the DEP for the provision of bottled water and for the installation of a
granular activated carbon(GAC)filter system, which will satisfactorily remove the pollutants in your
well water. The DEP will maintain and monitor the filter system until such time a responsible party is
found. The DEP will also be investigating potential sources of the pollution in the area.
Should you have any questions regarding this letter, please feel free to call me at(860)424-3778.
