r. STATE OF CONNECTICUT , DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION March 11, 1999 Ronald Cyr 420 Miller Road South Windsor,CT. 06074 RE: Water Sample Results,420 Miller Road, South Windsor,CT Dear Mr. Cyr: Enclosed please find a copy of the results for the water samples that were collected on February 24, 1999 from the kitchen tap at the above captioned property. The water samples were analyzed for the presence of aromatic(fuel oil/gasoline compounds)and chlorinated(degreasing agents)volatile organic compounds(VOCs). The results for the water samples identified the presence of five aromatic and chlorinated VOCs: -chloroform <0.5 parts per billion -1,2-dichloropropane <0.5 parts per billion -methyl t-butyl ether 2.3 parts per billion -tetrachloroethene <0.5 parts per billion -trichloroethene 2.7 parts per billion Trichloroethene was identified in the water sample collected at your home. The concentration found is below the action level that has been established by the Connecticut Department of Public Health's(DPH). The action level for trichloroethene in drinking water is 5 parts per billion. An action level is the concentration at or above which the DPH has determined there could be a risk to the health of persons consuming the water. The other compounds were found at trace levels. Additional water samples can be collected in the future to monitor the level of trichloroethene. The DEP will also be investigating potential sources of the pollution in the area.
