Dear Mr. & Mrs. Doyle:
Enclosed is a copy of the bacterial analysis of your water. As discussed with
Mrs. Doyle, total coliform was present. This is not necessarily harmful, but
may be an indicator that there is a problem with the water supply.
E. coli which is an indicator organism was absent.
Also, as discussed, chlorination of the water supply should alleviate the
bacterial problem, at least temporarily.
Notify this Department after chlorination has been completed to arrange for
another sample collection.
Water with total coliform contamination should not be consumed.
