No bacterial . contamination was present and chemical parameters tested for are within acceptable guidelines with the exception of iron. The recommended level for iron is 0.3 milligrams per liter. As indicated in the enclosed report, the iron content of your water was 0.97 milligrams per liter. Two physical parameters, apparent color (recommended guideline 5 units) and turbidity (recommended guideline 5 units) exceed the guideline. If the iron is in suspension in the water, it is most likely the cause of the excessive turbidity and color and the cause of the quality problem you described. Treatment may be necessary for iron removal. If you have any questions, please call me at the South Windsor Town Hall, 644-2511, Extension 248. Very truly yours, r Robert De tula, R.S.
