r y ` * Groundwater L. & Environmental Services, Inc. 425B Hayden Station Road Windsor, CT 06095 • Tel(860)688-9023 Fax(860)688-9278 October 7, 2008 Ms.Melissa Barton 143 Oakland Road South Windsor, CT 06074 Re: Potable Well Sampling Information 143 Oakland Road South Windsor, CT 06074 Dear Ms.Barton, On behalf of ExxonMobil Oil Corporation, Groundwater and Environmental Services (GES), ExxonMobil's consultant, would like to thank you for allowing GES to conduct sampling of your drinking water well on August 11,2008. The water sample from your well was tested for the presence of a number of volatile organic compounds found in gasoline, including methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE). The tests were conducted utilizing Environmental Protection Agency(EPA)approved methods and a copy of the laboratory report is enclosed. The laboratory results indicate no presence of MTBE or any other gasoline compound in your well water. However, the laboratory results indicate that chloromethane was detected in your drinking water at a concentration of 1.1 parts per billion(ppb). No drinking water criteria has been established for this compound, however;the Connecticut Groundwater Protection Criteria for this compound is 2.7 ppb As you know, the tests conducted on your drinking water well are part of an ongoing groundwater investigation being conducted in cooperation with the Connecticut Department of the Environmental Protection (CT DEP). Please note; the sampling frequency of your well, as requested by the CT DEP, is quarterly. Therefore, the next sampling event is scheduled for November 2008. Again, thank you for your patience and cooperation. If you have any questions regarding the test results or the investigation in the area, please feel free to call the toll free ExxonMobil Information Line at 1-877-346-0302 or, if you prefer,we suggest you contact Kevin Neary with the CT DEP at 860-424-3947 or Robert DeVito, the Environmental Health Officer for the Town of South Windsor,at 860-644-2511 ext.248.
