Dear Mr.Burrill,
On behalf of ExxonMobil Oil Corporation, Groundwater and Environmental Services (GES), ExxonMobil's
consultant, would like to thank you for allowing GES to conduct quarterly sampling of your drinking water
since June 2007.
At this point in time, GES will discontinue the sampling of your potable well, as approved by the Connecticut
Department of Environmental Protection (CT DEP). Based on the lack of gasoline related volatile organic
compounds (VOCs) in the area potable wells over the last year and the significant decrease in the VOC
concentrations in groundwater samples collected from the Former Mobil Station at 249 Oakland Road (the
site), continued potable well sampling is no longer warranted.
The ultimate goal of the project is to bring this site into regulatory compliance with the CT DEP Remediation
Standard Regulations. To that end, GES will continue to operate the existing total phase extraction (TPE)
remediation system. GES will also continue sampling surface water in Farm Brook and groundwater from
select on-site and off-site monitoring wells on a quarterly basis to ensure the remedial system remains effective
and plume capture is maintained. Should groundwater concentrations in the off-site monitoring wells increase,
ExxonMobil will re-evaluate the need for a potable well sampling program.
