Dear Mr. Devito,
I am writing in regards and serious concern for conditions at an industrial facility located at 300 Rye St.
This Facility deals with the recycling of bottles, cans, and cardboard.The cans and bottles contain remnants of soda,juice,
and beer,while the cardboard coming in often comes from grocery produce dept. compactors along with spoiled fruit,
vegetables, and whatever else has made it into the cardboard batch.
I was recently at this facility performing some work as a contractor for which I am employed and was appalled as well as
frightened by the problem existing.
This facility is beyond total infestation by rodents with my guess to be in the thousands and to make matters of great
concern the operators are doing absolutely nothing to even begin to control this problem.
Another concern is the food distribution facility soon to open up right across the street and the close proximity to Troy rd.
right behind this place.All of these facilities as well as the residential neighborhood in close proximity are surely all joined
by storm sewers which is a free runway for these pests soon to be at a population where they will be out growing their food
supply at the recycling center.
This facility is manned by I would guess 50 or so people per shift and one could only guess as to the legality of some which
is a totally different issue and not part of this concern other than the disease which they are subjected to on a daily basis
as well as very low standards of safety witnessed.
Your attention to this matter will be greatly appreciated.
I must also insist on remaining anonymous as I will probably be back to this facility in the future hopefully in much better
surroundings.

Thank you for altering this office to the possible public health issues at the above referenced
subject.A site visit was performed on the 25th of April, 2008 to investigate.The investigation
revealed some rat harborage on the exterior of the building and confirmed nesting on the inside.
The facility has employed a licensed pest control contactor for approximately one month and this
office recommended that all holes in exterior walls, openings around and under the doors be
sealed, and the storm water sewers receive pest control applications to enhance the controls
already established.
This office will revisit the establishment in approximately two weeks to evaluate progress.
