There was no bacterial contamination and chemical parameters tested for are within any guidelines for private wells. A recommended high level of hardness is 150 mg/L. Yours is at 280 mg/L. This does not make the water non-potable. Also, enclosed at your request are copies of previous water analyses. If you have any questions, please call me at 644-2511, extension 248. Russo 80 Park Drive South Windsor, Connecticut Dear Mr. Russo: As you are aware a sample of your drinking water was collected and delivered to the State Health Department laboratory for analysis. The water met potability guidelines for parameters tested including coliform bacteria of which none was detected. Iron bacteria (not disease producing) which may cause odors or discoloration was found in your water supply. This can be corrected by super chlorination of your water supply. Enclosed is a copy of the analysis . If you have any questions, please call the South Windsor Town Hall, 644-2511, (Ext. 248) . The results of this analysis indicate that your water supply meets the requirement for a potable water supply. It was observed, however, that the sodium level of your water was 29 milligrams 1 liter, as opposed to the recommended level of 20 mg1L. The nitrate level of 9.0 mg1L is also approaching the recommended level of 10 mg1L. Enclosed is a copy of your analysis. Russo _ 80 Parkview Drive South Windsor, Ct. 06074 Dear Mr. Russo: 0n May 26, 1983, a sample of your potable water was taken to be analyzed at the State health Department Laboratory. The sodium level of 29 milligrams per liter is slightly above the recommended level of 20 milligrams per liter. The nitrate level of 9.2 milligrmms per liter is approaching the recommended level of 10 milligrams per liter. Coliform colonies per 100 ML are indicated as one M. The limit for potable water is two (2). __ The pH of your water is 6.3. The recom®ended low limit is 6.5. TMis is the reason the lab report is stamped "Does not meet regulations of the Connecticut Department of Health Services". It is felt that a pH of below 6.5 may be corrosive to plumbing, and pH adjustment to your water supply may be necessary. This department would like to resample your drinking water to determine for you the direction of pH movement and to insure that the coliform colony count does not exceed State standards. Please inform me if this may be done. A sample oftwater taken from your pool was chemically inconclusive as to the reason for discoloration. Since this water was drawn from a shallow well (which does not serve your residence) and had an apparent color of 50 units at the time of sampling and has not recurred, I feel the discoloration was due to the excessive spring rains. Enclosed are copies of both analyses. if you have any questions, please call me at 644.2511, extension 274. Sincerely, , F Robert Deptu a, R.S.
