Levack, Sanitary Inspector Town Hall South Windsor, Connecticut 06074 Dear Mr. Levack: We have reviewed glans for subsurface sewage disposal systems for three lots on Maskel Road, South Windsor. These are Lot Nos. 5, 6 and 7• The plans were prepared by Francis V. Rossi, consulting engineer, and sub- mitted to this office pursuant to Section 19-13-B20m of the Public Health Code. The plans are considerably lacking in detail. No information is sub- mitted regarding the location of wells, if any, the number of bedrooms, slopes and elevations, and details of the leaching trenches. . However, it does appear that a generous amount of leaching area is provided. Ia soils such as this, it is advisable to locate the leaching trenches no deeper than 3 feet below the existing surface, since seasonal high ground water Conditions are comon in soils with minimum percolation rates of 1 inch in 30 minutes or more. It would also be advisable to avoid cutting in the area of the leaching system. It is noted that the proposed curtain drain on Lot Ro. 6 is located a ccnpiderable distance from the leaching systemo our experience has been that curtain drains located much over 25 feet fret leaching systems are generally of little help to the leaching system in lowering the ground water table. It is difficult for us to definitely determine whether the proposed leach- ing systems are in compliance with the Code requirements. However, if you are eatisfled, we would have no objection to your approving them.
