The water samples were collected from the kitchen tap and from the well head. The water samples were submitted to the Department of Public Health (DPH) Laboratory where they were analyzed for general/physical chemistry and volatile organic compounds (VOC). The following were found: Kitchen Tan The general/physical chemistry for the kitchen tap sample meets drinking water standards. The sulfates may possibly be the source of the odors that you are experiencing. This would be considered to be a natural occurring condition. Well Head The VOC sample results for the sample collected from the well head was none detected for all VOC compounds listed. The water supply is potable in respect to the samples collected to date. The odor which you have experienced would likely be removed by a water filtration system. However, I am not familiar with the exact type of filter which would be best. Additional water samples should be taken to a private lab after you have any work completed or. the well, ie. the casing welded or extended, or if you recased the well. If you have any questions I can be contacted at (860) 424-3778.
