Rt. 5, South lindsor Dear Mr. Donahue: The changing of the 6-inch sewer line to a 4-inch sewer line from the building to the septic tank meets my approval providing you have in- stalled the cleanouts every 50 feet as ,you stated. The 4-inch line will tend to clog faster than the 6-inch line and will therefore need these clean-outs to unplug the line. Very truly yours, Rog r H. Whitney, REV s s !:".7 cc: Mr. 2manuel W. WHITNEY, CONSULTING ENGINEER Avon, Connecticut I" SOIL PERCOLATION TiST REPORT (Cont.) DATE:_ 1_Q. 1970 _- Client R! eWMER & LOCATION: Allied Building Systems, Inc. Chappel Road & oute 5, South Windsor Conn. i GENERAL: The soil types indicated herein are classified by visual observations and the simple field tests stated in the Unified Soil Classification System. The proportional amount of each soil type is indicated only generally to aid in detextnining the suitability of the soil for subsurface sewage disposal and any precautions that should be taken. The absorption qualities of a simple test hole indicate only the qualities at the particular location tested; whereas, a number of test holes will indicate the absorption qualities of the soil over a wide area. It is understood that the conclusions rendered by these tests and any accompanying report do not cover the installation of the individual septic-tank systems. The specific conditions affecting each system may vary or be found to differ which will require adjustments prior to or at the time of installation. In addition to changes in seasonal water table the seasonal moisture content of the soil may cause considerable variation in certain characteristics of the soil such as color and rt.ructurc from those reported. REMARKS: The land is essentially flat for a distance of about 300 feet northeast of -the old brick plant to where a moderate, downward, northeasterly slope begins. This slope continues for about 90 feet and terminates at the edge of a very steep bank. Test pits were dug in the north corner of the open lot. The investigations disclosed the presence of a thick layer of fine sand starting at about a 14" depth `hole down to at least a 120" depth, The ground water table was intercepted in test pits # 1 , 2, & 3 which puts it at a depth of 10. 1 feet below the floor elevation of the proposed future lair.- _atory. The percolation rate in the brown sand was 11t in 7.3 min: while the rate in 44Ahe underlying tan sand was a very rapid rate of 1 " in 0.6 min. I would recommend the use of leaching trendhes as an economical and feasible method of subsurface disposal of sewage effluent. Res`ectfully submitted, z Ro r H.
