Turek, M.D. Acting Director of Health of South Windsor 1540 Sullivan Avenue South Windsor, Connecticut 0.6074 Dear Doctor Turek: We have reviewed the plans for a subsurface sewage disposal system for a proposed day school for the Seventh-Day Adventist Church on Foster Road, South Windsor. The plans were prepared by Megson & H:yyppa, consulting engineers, and submitted to this office pursuant to Section 19-13-B20c of the Public Health Code. The plans appear to be generally satisfactory. The soil in the area is good, but there is a high seasonal ground water table. For this reason, it will be necessary to locate the leaching system as shallow as possible. The bottoms of the leaching trenches should be placed no deeper than 18 inches into the existing grade. Fill be required to provide adequate cover for the leaching system. We have the following recommendations for additions to the leaching system to further assure a proper installation: 1. Elevations should be specified on the plan to assure that the leaching system will not be set too low. Such elevations should be indicated on the distribution boxes, septic tank and sewer at the foundation. It may be necessary to place the finished floor of the building on or above the existing grade in order to allow gravity flow to the leaching system. 2. Distribution boxes should be placed where the main distribution pipe _ crosses each trench lateral. All of the trenches should be kept on the same elevation and the ends of the trenches connected with a relief trench as required by the Public Health Code. If you have any questions, please contact us. Sincerely yours, Theodore C.
