Coho Kamco Florist 1676 Ellington Road South Windsor,CT 06074 Dear Jeff; Here are the results I took of your well on 5/13/99. When I took the sample I noted that you have a shallow well suction pump in your basement so I surmised that yo4 have a dug well as a source of water for your house/business.These type of pumps. can only draw suction from a shallow 25 foot or less deep well because of standard atmospheric pressure, vacuum characteristics, etc. 1 had concerns that your bacteriologic tests would come.back positive as dug wells are notorious for poor bacteriological water quality.I couldn't locate your well but I assume its over somewhere in the wetlands area bordering your property. Mirabile dietu! Wonders of wonders your well water is fine. All parameters are Weill within accepted standards and parameters and is quite potable for plants and people too! You will note that the water is quite mineralized with a high hardness of 170ppm. I think this explains the excellent bacterial results. While the well itself may be only 20-25 feet deep,it is sitting on top of a deeper artesian aquifer and its water is flowing up from a bedrock aquifer and out of your well. Shallow overburden(dug)wells are usually very soft with little or no hardness. Keep these results with your house documents and if you have any questions give ; me a call at 509-7325. I will also copy the town,Bob Deptula,so he can have this data for his!Iles. Due to the fact that your existing well and septic system are closer than present day standards allow it was discussed and agreed upon that you would submit to the Health Department water testing results from the well to determine water quality every six months. Bacterial and routine chemical analysis is sufficient. It was also discussed and agreed upon that b the end f 9 P o a three year period from. Y Y occupancy, you would either connect to the public water, public sewers, or both. If you have questions please feel free to call me at (860) 644-2511 extension 248.
