Trucking Terminal Dear Mr. McLaughlin: I am enclosing one advanced copy of a drawing showing the pro- posed repairs to the septic system located in front of the Lombard Bros. Trucking Terminal on Route 5 in South Windsor. Their present disposal system, whichYas been in place for approximately ten years, has been giving them some trouble and they are desirous of replacing it. Based upon the number of full-time employees and visiting truck drivers and the number of plumbing fixtures in the building, I esti- mate the sewage flow to be 500 gallons per day. One percolation test was taken at the location indicated on the drawings. An excellent coarse sand was encountered to a depth of 5 feet. Percolation rate was less than 1 minute per inch. I have therefore used the application rate recommended for a percolation rate of 3 minutes per inch in sizing the field. A seepage pit has been proposed in lieu of the more normal distribution box. This will allow for the storage of some sludge overflow if the system is not maintained properly. The side areas of the seepage pit were not used in comput- ing the required effective seepage area. When a contractor has finally been selected for this work he will make application for a permit in the usual manner. This drawing and information is furnished to you in advance so that you can expedite the processing of the application. If you wish any additional details, please contact me directly.
