Re: Mold complaint at 150 Burnham Street.
Dear Ms. Pratt:
On January 15, 2010, I visited the above referenced address to investigate a complaint
you registered with this department concerning mold inside the home. Upon arrival you
directed me to the basement area of the home where you thought the mold may have been
a problem.
As I looked around the basement I observed a very severe white mold growth on the
walls floors and ceilings. I also observed water coming from beneath the basement floor.
At the time of my visit,I informed you that molds are carried indoors on clothes, pets,
open windows, and via ducted ventilation systems such as the one in your home. I also
informed you that mold needs water to grow and the water coming up from the basement
floor is a contributing factor to the mold growth.
The following are some steps you can take to eliminate the growth of the mold and you
should not see or smell any mold after the abatement is complete.
- Make sure all water leaks and moisture problems have been fixed and water can no
longer collect where it's not supposed to collect.
Make sure all porous moldy materials have been removed, discarded, and replaced with
clean and dry materials.
- Make sure all non-porous,previously contaminated materials have been cleaned
thoroughly.
If you have any questions I can be reached at 860-644-2511, extension 248.
Ve truly y"s, ,
