Dear Bob:
The location of street lighting as shown on your sketch of
Sharon Drive is okay.
It would be appreciated if these poles could be installed
prior to lot conveyances, to assure homeowner acceptance
of the locations.
Very truly yours,

Dear Mr. Stead:
Enclosed you will find a copy of a sketch of the
Sharron Lane extension which is a new sub-development due
to be constructed in the spring of this year.
Prior to installing the electrical facilities in the
sub-development, we would like the Town of South Windsor's
approval for the location and installation of street
lighting. Indicated on the print is the proposed street
light locations. They will be 30 ft. gray wooden poles
with 3350 lumen street lights.
If the lights are accepted by the town in the noted
locations, there will be no charge for installation and
the town will pay a rental fee of $4.39 per luminaire per
month.
If you have any questions please feel free to call
me.
Sincerely,

MEMORANDUM JANUARY 4, 1978
To: Allan S. Young, Director of Public Works
From: Louis Jeski,. Superintendent of Street Services
Re: Mr. Jackston's Mail Box.- 51 Sharon Drive
On 12/6/77 at 11:35 A.M. Mr. Jackston of 51 Sharon Drive called and informed the Town
Garage that his mail box was knocked down. He stated that he has rocks around his
mail box and he needed a new post.
On 12/12/77 at 9:00 A.M. Mr. Jackston called and stated that his mail box had not been
fixed or returned. We had taken his mail box for repair and due to storms on the 7th
and 9th did not get back immediately.
On or about 12/12 Russ Cable went to the Jackston home. He talked to Mrs. Jackston
and explained to her that we would set the mail box up temporarily until Spring, when
the frost was out of the ground. At this time, we would replace it with the same kind
of pole. She was most agreeable to this as long as she could get her mail.
The reason for the delay, as stated above, was storms on the 7th and 9th.
Our policy is to take care of storm clean-up and walks and then take Qre of mail box
complaints. This includes replacing boxes and posts. At this particular time we had
10 mail boxes to work on.

POLD- SUBJECT: Damages Incurred to Mailboxes and Posts by Highway Department
I want an explanation in writing of the comments made by Mr. Jackson in
his letter of 12/24/77 (copy attached). I assume the letter was sent to my
office to apprise me of the situation. What is the policy in replacing
damaged mailboxes and posts? This is the first time I have had any
experience in this kind of a problem since we only had door-to-door delivery
in the other cities that I have worked in.
