RE: CRACK IN DRIVEWAY APRON
Dear Mr. & Mrs . Owen:
I have investigated your complaint concerning the crack in the
lower right-hand corner of the driveway apron at your residence.
As I discussed with Mrs . Owen, the crack looks to be superficial
and does not appear to have affected the overall integrity of the
paved surface. The bituminous was probably still somewhat pliable
when it was cracked.
We will, however, continue to watch the situation. As the
contractor submits requests for bond reductions , the project is
inspected routinely. The Town will also be holding a "Maintenance
Bond" for a period of twelve months after project completion.
This means that total bonding will not be released for probably
20-24 months from the date of this writing.
A coating of driveway sealer on the apron would, in my opinion,
insure no further deterioration of the pavement surface. You
may wish to consider sealing the apron, or I can instruct the
contractor to do the same.
As I previously mentioned, we will continue to monitor the
situation over the coming months.
