Dear Ms . Morrin :
Thank you for your letter of January 14 , 1985 regarding the
floodplain designation of your property. I apologize for
the delay in responding to your communications ; however, you
are correct in that the correspondence was not received in
my office .
Your request that the Town initiate a FEMA review of the
floodplain designation of the Avery Brook Watershed area
has been discussed with the Town Engineer . Also , S . E .A . , Inc .
(the consulting engineering firm on the flood control projects)
has recommended in their reports that the channel improvements ,
and the "dam" structures , would both be required to eliminate
the flooding hazard in this area .
The Town has been informed that the "dam" project should
proceed to construction in 1985 . Upon completion of this
facility, it would then be appropriate to request FEMA to
review the floodplain designation- -and I will ask the
Director of Public Works to do just that , at that time .
Many residents in your area are similarly affected by this
designation--and we will seek the revision as soon as such
a request is consistent with appropriate professional
engineering standards .
Please contact me if I may be of further assistance at this
time .
Very truly yours ,
To Manag

RE: PUDDLING PROBLEMS REAR OF NO. 54 MANOR LANE
At the request of the Town Manager, on January 5, 1982, the rear of 54 Manor
Lane was inspected for "puddling problems" by Lester Braddock and J. E. Page.
Near the pool, about two inches of water, some of it frozen, was found.
Elevations were taken on the property at three locations, and the results
are as follows:
(1) The pool is exactly the same elevation as the notch nearest the
pool;
(2) The notch, which is on the southeast corner of the property, is
five inches below the pool;
(3) The area has not yet been final-graded.
Our conclusions are that in the spring, when the area is final-graded, all
properties in this area, which include 54 Manor Lane, 64 Manor Lane and
250 Benedict Drive will drain. We may have to install yard drains over the
pipe; however, as the area of these back yards is very flat.
